Surrounded by the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, artist Julie Marcelia captures the region’s ever-changing beauty in her metal leaf paintings. Whether beside a rushing river, a quiet stream, or the vast ocean, Julie finds renewal and a sense of equilibrium in the presence of water, its movement offering a soothing remedy for life’s turbulence, restoring balance and clarity.
Julie’s innovative fusion of materials and techniques results in works that are both exploratory and contemporary. Through her signature technique of layering texture, metal leaf, and paint, she creates dynamic compositions that shift with the light, giving her work a sense of movement and depth. By blending structural layers with spontaneous, flowing elements, she captures a delicate balance between control and unpredictability, mirroring the forces of nature that inspire her.
Julie lives and works in the Seattle area. She holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in fine arts, first studying music before pivoting into visual art. Her work is currently available at the Art Gallery of SnoValley, a regional collective located in historic Snoqualmie, Washington as well as at MaJe Gallery in Edmonds, Washington. Her work is also featured annually at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle each February, and at other select shows throughout the Pacific Northwest. Her award winning paintings reside in many collections throughout the United States.
